1. Canon and the Digital Camera Industry

(1)Brief History

Canon was founded in 1937, starting as a camera making company. Today, 83 years later from the foundation, Canon took the second place among Asia’s top 1000 brands following Sony of the first place. In Asia, Canon’s brand power already surpassed those of Nike, Google and Coca-Cola. Canon’s mission is Coexistence which means ‘Living and working together for the common good’. For the broader definition, Canon defined it as "All people, regardless of race, religion or culture, harmoniously living and working together into the future.“ In addition, Canons primary goal is ‘cross media imaging ’, which expresses people’s thought, images and information over time and space.

-Mission Statement-
• Ideas of Cannon is Living Together 공생(共生).
Regardless of culture, nation and language, our goal is making a society that all mankind live together, work together and promote happiness forever.
• Cannon means the Bible, standard, and level 성전(聖典), 규범, 표준.
It is meaning of spirit that Cannon will do their best to be a global standard of high technology and service activity.
